The dial is not a gimmick. It tightens evenly across the whole foot instead of in the two or three places your fingers happen to pull hardest, and you can adjust it mid-round without bending down and without wet laces.
The spikeless sole is the right default for most golfers here — grippy enough for the course in the dry, and you can walk into the clubhouse afterwards without changing.
On sizing
Golf shoes should be fitted at the end of the day, with the socks you play in, and with a thumb’s width at the toe. Feet swell over eighteen holes. A shoe that fits perfectly in the shop at ten in the morning will be a size too small by the fourteenth hole.
